Youth Political Participation Project is a social project aimed towards increasing voter enrollment in youth across India. The multi-pronged approach utilized by YP3 brings together civic agencies, political role players, and educational institutions to educate and motivate young adults to participate in the electoral process. YP3’s intention is to elucidate the importance of first-time voters as a community within the Indian electoral system. Through this, we aim to develop a sense of civic responsibility and engagement within young adults of the country while educating them about democracy and the electoral process. We have created pamphlets that explain the voter enrollment process in India. A step-by-step guide is provided on how to become a registered voter. The pamphlet also explains the importance of being enfranchised in the democratic process.
To further this cause, YP3 plans to conduct campaigns and awareness drives to spread knowledge and empower youth to gain interest in their democracy and its issues. Additionally, communities with a history of non-participation will be identified and given special attention by conducting a door-to-door awareness movement through which the youth’s voices can be heard. We also plan to create a platform where youth can engage in conversations about major political issues in the form of a virtual magazine.
